HairMax LaserComb Review

The folks over at Cnet just got done sampling a product in the hair loss category, the HairMax LaserComb. While there are no results to report yet, it's encouraging to see Cnet review this product. While the LaserComb might just be the beginning, who knows what hair loss products Cnet will review in the future.

Hair loss expert John Vincent promises results in six months for patients being treated at his Central California Laser Hair Therapy clinic that he opened in April with dermatologist Dr. Bradley Kurgis.  A bit of a tall order for a technology that has many bald heads shaking with skepticism, no?

Well, the papers say it's true.  In fact, Vincent's patients have seen results in as soon as seven weeks into their low level laser treatment.  Their hair began to look healthier, fuller and shinier.  Patients supplement their in-office treatments by using laser combs while at home.

Both Vincent and Dr. Kurgis agree that their treatment can be used as supplement in conjunction with Rogaine, Propecia and hair transplant procedures.

This isn't the end of the line for low level laser technology.  Vincent claims that lasers will soon be treating acne, killing bacteria, managing pain and may even be taking on more daunting tasks such as regulating blood circulation and repairing tissue.

We have blogged quite a few times about laser combs and laser treatments for hair loss. However, until now we haven't grasped the magnitude of laser therapy as a treatment for hair loss. Laser combs seem to be the popular topic these days, but unfortunately we haven't  heard of any positive results.  From what we've witnessed, the laser comb is good for promoting healthy hair growth but not so much for regrowing lost hair.  That said, there are other laser hair treatments boasting more positive results.

Little did we know, there's a whole new type of laser treatment on the cusp. You can't do it in the comfort of your home, as it involves over 100 low-level lasers which cover the patients scalp for between 15 and 30 minutes. Here's a pretty good news story showing how low-level laser therapy works and can help regrow lost  hair.

"Today" on NBC recently did a featured segment on hair loss and the methods used to correct it. This particular episode is a lot like the hair loss feature Battle the Against Bald that Donny Deutsch did a few months ago on his show, "The Big Idea." The only difference is that it's a bit shorter and not as descriptive, but reiterates the fact that there are cures for baldness, and hair restoration surgery reigns supreme among all other options. Hairmax Laser Comb—the results are in!

In case you've forgotten, we have been intermittently following several bloggers testing the HairMax Laser Comb for a few months now.  Coincidentally, both laser comb testers are technology bloggers, so their motivations are more about determining if the gadget actually works, instead of simply trying to correct their male pattern baldness problems. Fortunately for them, it's a win-win if the laser hair treatment happens to work.   

Earlier this month Gizmodo gadget blogger, Louis Ramirez, posted his final HairMax Laser Comb results. It had been six weeks since Louis started using the laser comb and unfortunately, he didn't experience any positive results. That's not to say the HairMax Laser Comb doesn't work; but rather, it just didn't work for Louis. Check out this video detailing his final entry.

HairMax Laser Comb Test - Update

A few weeks ago I blogged about bloggers putting the HairMax Laser Comb to the test. Now I'm pleased to revisit their results.  Most of the bloggers testing the laser comb aren't expecting to see results for a few more weeks. Unfortunately, not a single one has seen any hair regrowth or difference in hair quality since using the laser comb.

More Heads on HairMax

It seems as though testing the HairMax Laser Comb is the newest trend amongst bloggers in the blogosphere. First it was Brian Whiten, a reporter, who blogged weekly about his HairMax results, and then Gizmodo got their hands on a HairMax. Now, there's another gadget blogger jumping on the laser comb blogging band-wagon; GearLog writer Dan Costa is putting his head on HairMax.

How the HairMax Laser Comb Works

Alright, here's another HairMax Laser Comb entry, this time not about whether or not the laser comb regrows lost hair, but instructions on how to use the HairMax Laser Comb. I've previously blogged about Gizmodo's hands on with a HairMax and thought I'd follow up with the results from their tests. Louis, one of Gizmodo's technology reviewers is trying to correct his male pattern baldness with the HairMax Laser Comb and is periodically documenting his experience with the laser comb on the blog.

Louis's first entry features a video detailing how the laser comb is used. It's actually quite interesting because of how time consuming it can be.
