Mark's Post Procedure Follow Up
I followed the
post operative procedures to the letter - applying moist pads and spraying my
scalp to minimize scabbing, taking the pills to reduce swelling, and applying
hydrating gel to the donor area. For the first week following the procedure I
felt the sensation of a vice around my head squeezing. Not painful, but
not especially comfortable either. I like going to the gym but was advised to
avoid strenuous exercise for a week and swimming for two weeks. I went to gym
but just focused on cardio.
Two weeks
later the squeezing sensation is gone. Stitches could be removed in 9 days. I
waited for 2 weeks. Perhaps this wasn't a great idea, as it was a bit
challenging for my wife to remove the stitches. It was painful in a few spots,
but it subsided. Going through this has reminded me that discomforts will
always pass and become distant memories- almost a metaphor for life. At this
point I have no regrets or second thoughts whatsoever about the procedure and
the post operative experience. My Doctor reminded me that the hardest part is
practicing patience over the next 6 months. In fact, he said there might not be
any noticeable growth for 9 months. I await with great anticipation.

My dad has been looking into hair restoration and although we really do not want him to be having to do this. He is a really high exec for his company, he is adamant that he wants to have a similar procedure done. It does look very painful. Are the guarantees worth the pain and what if the hair falls out I wonder?
