Less Hair on Your Head ≠ More Vitamin D for Your Body
For those of you who thought that maybe, just maybe, your lack of hair allowed you to absorb more Vitamin D from the direct sunlight to your dome - think again. A new study shows that baldness does absolutely nothing to help the body absorb more Vitamin D.
The study looked into why older men have higher levels of Vitamin D than older women. The initial thinking was that there was a direct correlation with the absence of hair. So, researchers looked at 296 middle-aged or older men and separated them by their level of hair loss. Nearly half had mild recession, while about a third had predominant hair loss. The rest of the group was bald.
The results? There was no notable difference of levels of vitamin D between the three different groups.
