The Bald Report: Weekly hair loss and hair restoration news
It's Monday again and we're back to let you know what happened this weekend in the haircare world. The hippies are back to fight for the cause, except this time it's for Locks of Love. Read about why you should be careful about new diet trends—we found one that helps you shed a few... hairs. Is aloe vera the miracle cure for everything? How about lemon balm? Read all about it.
Peace, love & hair—Self-proclaimed "leftover Dead-head" Ken Nass donated over a foot of his wavy brown hair to Locks of Love. A crowd of 200 people and a jamming rock band witnessed the event with cheers and heavy tunes.
Fad diets gone bald—Heidi Diaz, founder of the Kimkins Diet, is being sued for false claims that her diet plan helped people lose weight. Members using the plan suffered several health defects, hair loss being one of them.
Aloe hair-a?—A release on AmericanChronicle.com claims that aloe vera can cure 80 different ailments; the article even says that it can stop hair loss. The outrageous claim also says that it can be used to stop the growth of malignant tumors and help with heart, kidney and liver disease.
Rub some lemon on your melon—According to the London Dispensary, written in 1696 and quoted by Margaret Grieve in "A Modern Herbal" in 1931, lemon balm will "renew youth, strengthen the brain, relieve languishing nature" and, believe it or not, "prevent baldness."
