Women Battling Hair Loss
Contrary to popular belief, hair loss in women is not so rare and the emotional impact it has on some women can be quite serious. As I've discussed before, the causes of female hair loss tend to be different from those which cause men to go bald.
Male pattern baldness tends to be a result of the hormone Dihydrotestosterone (DHT), where as, female pattern baldness can be caused by any of the following: hereditary, scalp disease, anemia, crash dieting, thyroid disease, autoimmune disorders such as alopecia areata, trauma or severe psychological stress, hormonal changes such as childbirth, medications such as birth control pills, cornrows, braids, tight hairstyles.
Here are a few treatments women commonly use to stop hair loss and re-grow lost hair: Rogaine (for women), hair transplant surgery, cortisone therapy, laser treatment, and anthralin cream.
