Hair Loss and Genetics: Part 2
Yesterday, I blogged about an article which detailed the connection between genetics and hair loss. Well, you're in luck, because I came across another article which adds to the argument of genetics causing hair loss.
Bill Kettler argues that although hair loss is inherited through genetics, not everyone with the gene will necessarily go bald. As it turns out, the hair gene has what physicians call "variable expression," which means hair loss may not occur in everybody who has the gene.
Also, the hair gene is known to behave very erratically, which means that some people will experience hair loss sooner than others. The amount of hair loss tends to vary too, but some degree of hair loss is nearly universal among men. Dr. Denise Burke, a dermatologist in Medford, OR says about 96 percent of all men will eventually experience some hair thinning in the temples even if they don't lose hair anywhere else.
